Stay on top of your game with these productivity tips

We all have days where we feel less productive, days where you’d come into the office and not do much and the next thing its knock off time. On such days, one cannot help but feel bad for the time wasted and work piling up. That doesn’t have to be the case, here are five productivity tips to help you be on top of game every day.

1. Plan your day

They say the way you start your day will determine the way you end it. In everything you do it’s always good to plan. Maybe you start work at 8am. Why not arrive 15 minutes earlier and sit down to plan and structure how your day will look? This will help you be on track with all you need to do for the day. When planning it’s important that you prioritize your tasks from important to least important and tick off as you go along.

2. Be professional

We know how our inboxes get flooded with mails from everyone and those messenger texts from all your friends. When you’re at work it’s important that you keep it professional in all ways. Only respond to mails that have to do with work and have a certain time to get back to all your friends texts and phone calls during your lunch hour. You’ll be surprised at how much work you’ll get done if you only focus on work stuff at work. Stop wasting your time on unnecessary time wasters.

3. Take your lunch hour

Sitting at your workstation all day can have an impact on you being less productive. Lunch hour is meant to for you to relax and take a breather away from your normal routine. It’s important to eat your lunch away from your desk, take a walk and come back with more energy and renewed attitude to do your work. Sitting at your desk all say can drain you.

4. Stop multi-tasking

Trying to do everything at the same time may seem as if you are getting a lot done, but that is really not the case because you end up with incomplete tasks. Not only does it make you look disorganized, but it’s also a silent time waster. Stick to one task, finish it and jump on to the next one.

5. Liven up your work space

People gain inspiration from different things; if your workstation looks good you can’t help but love it and do so much work. Find out what it is that inspires you and add some life to your workspace. It could be a colourful desk mat or pot plant. Whatever it is, you can decorate your workspace with it and be inspired to do your best every day. Some go to the extent of pinning their family photos on their desks and inspiring quotes. Try it out too.
